Do you think it is an honor to serve our country in congress or in the senate? Or is it like winning the lottery? I propose it should be an honor. I propose when they leave office the pay also stops, no more free retirement after just one term. To qualify for retirement pay they must serve at least 20 years over their lifetime and retirement pay be limited to a percentage of total earnings. Also travel should be economy class no first class, they can always use their own money to pay the difference to upgrade seating class.
