The sequestration caps on discretionary spending imposed as a result of the Budget Control Act of 2011 have been in place less than a year and have already wreaked havoc on the nation. From reducing the armed forces to appalling and unacceptably low levels of readiness to cutting key scientific research and infrastructure investments, the sequester has been one of the most ill-conceived policies in recent history. If these cuts are allowed to persist the military will be unable to deal with crises that may arise in an increasingly unpredictable world and the US will loose a generation of scientists and the research they could conduct. For the good of the nation please reverse these terrible budget cuts before it's too late.
