Overlooked in the press is the plight of 12,000 Shia Turkmen in the village of Amerli. The village is completely surrounded by ISIS militants who, if successful with their siege, will kill all of the men and enslave the women and children. This is despite the fact that Amerli is as far away from Kurdistan as the White House is from the Pentagon.
American airstrikes have already helped the Yazidis on Mount Sinjar; we need to do the same for the Turkmen in Amerli, because we would be able to prevent a massacre. The village has already been under siege for six weeks, they are strong and only need our help. Please, President Obama, don't overlook these people.
