End Smoking While Driving

Created by R.S. on May 13, 2013

Smoking while driving is just as dangerous as talking on the phone or texting while driving. It offers distraction and presents the potential for a hazardous situation. The focus of driving is distracted from the smoker during the time a smoker reaches for their pack of cigarettes until they put the cigarette out.
First, they are distracted by finding their cigarettes and lighter. Then, they are taking at least one hand from the wheel to light and smoke said cigarette. Once smoking, the driver then has to be aware of the ashes and disposal of the cigarette, further distracting them from the road. The same as talking on the phone, it takes focus from the driver.
If it is unsafe to focus your attention on a cell phone while driving, it is unsafe to smoke while driving.
