Last year, oil companies reported record profits and our deficit spiraled out of control. We need to end subsidies and tax breaks for oil companies to help decrease the deficit.
We can not continue with the mind set of the past, more oil leases in offshore areas, oil drilling permits, the Keystone pipeline, all will just continue to pollute the environment and prolong our dependency on oil. Those initiatives will not solve our domestic energy problems.
The future of our country and environment requires new innovation and weaning our country off oil. I ask that you make history and be a leader for a clean-energy future. The time is NOW! We need solutions not just more of the same coddling of the oil companies at the expense of the American people.
