The U.S. government currently subsidizes the production of a variety of "dirty" forms of energy production. This leads to increased consumption of products which produce carbon emissions and decreases the ability of green energy to compete in the national energy marketplace.
Shifting spending from environment-damaging "dirty" energy subsidies to the green energy industry will reduce carbon emissions, reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, and (if appropriate research grants are provided in the funding,) pave the way for improved green energy technology and a stronger green energy industry.
Fund solar, wind, hydroelectric, hydrothermal, and other forms of clean energy generation in place of oil, ethanol, and other subsidized carbon-emitting energy production.
