The industries that extract fossil fuels from the earth have been subsidized for far too long which has kept the prices of those products artificially low. The cost of extraction should be built into the price of the products so that Free Market Capitalism can be allowed to decide what products succeed or fail. Other technologies such as solar and geo-thermal would suddenly become competitive. Those who are currently employed in the hazardous extraction industries would move over to the green jobs sector and we might have a chance to achieve the goal of 350ppm of CO in our atmosphere.
