End tax exempt status for all religious institutions. Allow tax exempt status only for charitable portion.

Created by A.M. on December 27, 2012

Make tax exemption for religious institutions an exception to the rule instead of the default.

Many religious institutions use much of their tax exempt funds to get involved in Politics which violates the intent of the tax exempt status they have been granted.

At the same time many churches do CHARITY work and truly deserve tax exemption.

Change the Tax Law so that tax exemption is only allowed for the portion spent on charitable activity and require the religious institution to keep records in support of this.

This is different than other petitions which seek to remove tax exempt status based on expensive investigations to determine if they are eligible.

This petition is more straightforward and requires proper record keeping to receive tax exempt status for specific charity work.
