The tax exemption of churches in the US costs tax payers $71 billion a year. Many individuals file to become religious organizations to gain tax exempt status. Allow religious organizations to file tax deductions for charitable contributions like the rest of us and force them to prove that the money they are claiming is being used for charity and not to line the pockets of their church leaders!
