People get called to do their civic duty of jury duty. When one serves on a jury duty they typically receive a small stipend. This stipend is usually not enough to pay for parking and lunch. The real offense is we then have to pay income tax on this compensation. I guess jurors do not have lobbyists; we have been forgotten. Tax-free jury duty pay would also make people more likely to not try to avoid jury duty.
We call for President Obama to ammend the tax code to make jury duty pay non-taxable.
