The Administration should exempt DC residents from liability for federal income taxes until such time as residents of the current District receive full representation in the United States Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives through one of several Constitutional means. These remedies can include reduction of the federal District to the National Capital Service Area with no residences other than the White House and admission of the remaining territory to the union as the State of New Columbia. It can also include other remedies such as retrocession of most of the current District lands to Maryland following an affirmative vote by residents of both jurisdictions. Other options should be entertained also as long as they ensure equal rights for all United States citizens.
