End Tenure for Public School Teachers

Created by M.K. on January 25, 2013

The use of tenure in US public schools makes it incredibly difficult for administrators and parents to remove even the worst teachers; even if ample evidence of blatant misconduct has been found, it can often take years to remove a teacher from the classroom, and it is even more difficult to remove ineffective or apathetic teachers. When it comes to education, we owe our children nothing but the best. Removing tenure would allow us to increase teacher quality by removing the worst offenders, and providing a clear incentive to all teachers to continually put forth their best efforts and keep their skills sharp throughout their careers.
Make no mistake, this is not anti-teacher. It is only those who cheat our children by failing or refusing to teach who have anything to worry about.
