One source of potential corruption within family courts is the money that flows from the federal government to the states based upon the amount of child support and spousal support collected. Funds are matched up to a dollar for every dollar. These funds are to be used to supplement and not go towards existing budgeted items or shortfalls. Not only is the amount of money a factor, but decisions and verdicts are manipulated to fall within guidelines to avoid losing these funds. Judges are changing and creating facts in cases to support decisions that are not only in conflict with a parents decision, but also in conflict of what is actually the best interest of the child.
