The Guantanamo Bay detention facility must be shut down, or at the very least, must employ humane treatment procedures for it's detainees. Those cleared for release must be released immediately. Those with severe mental health issues as a result of their detention must be cared for.
In 2008, President Obama vowed to close Guantanamo Bay once and for all. In 2013, a hunger strike enters it's reported 6th week, a protest against the inhumane treatment the prisoners receive there.
How can we still be considered a free country when we treat other humans so savagely? How do these practices enhance foreign conceptions of America, and its diplomatic relations?
