The goal of this petition is to end the half-century of hostile relations with the Republic of Cuba. With the Cold War over and the Cuban economy continuing to lag behind with harsh trade restrictions imposed upon it, we want to open trade with the socialist island and establish new diplomatic relations based on friendship and mutual respect. We see this as having potential for mutual benefits, economically, politically, and socially. We want a foreign policy dictated by the will of the people, not by US business interests.
