When the embargo was enacted during the Cold War period, Cuba posed a major threat to the United States. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, many people in Cuba have been living in poverty with only government issued food stamps providing food. It is time to end the Cuban embargo.
This will help to improve foreign relations with Cuba, as well as open up new business opportunities that will benefit Americans and Cubans alike. The fear of the spread of communism is no longer on the collective minds of the American people.
The embargo has done nothing in the manner that it was intended. Instead of ousting the Castro regime, it has forced an innocent Cuban population to suffer. Please consider this petition, and I look forward to receiveing feedback.
