End the Travel Embargo on Cuba!

Created by M.J. on May 18, 2014

This petition seeks to have the White House address ending the travel restrictions of taxpaying US Citizens from visiting and vacationing in Cuba. We can currently travel without penalty to places like Russia, China and even North Korea, but a small island off the coast of the US is off-limits for US tourists. The embargo was placed on Cuba in 1962 by President John Kennedy to oust Fidel Castro, which never happened. Now, 50 years later, Cuba shows no sign of political change. The best way to effect change is to let the the US tourists go and tell the Cuban population what a great place the USA really is. Right now, the only voice the Cubans hear is from their government. There is also the fact that tourism would improve our economy by giving the travel industry a big boost.
