Prior to 2006, billions of flyers safely traversed the American skies with no restrictions on the volume of liquid they could carry onto planes.
The limits on liquids in carry-on luggage distract the attention of TSA agents from true threats, with no proof that this policy has thwarted a single incident since it was implemented. Screening for these items is often arbitrary and random, and pieces safely carried through a checkpoint in one airport may be discarded by agents in another.
Furthermore, it forces a significant and unnecessary cost onto the traveling public. Toiletries which could once fit in hand luggage now often result in a checked-bag fee instead. Items as innocuous as bottled water must now be purchased inside the airport, often at rates well above market value.
