From the first debate the public is told that a majority of unelected party insiders known as superdelegates (SD) have pledged to vote for an establishment candidate, creating unfair influence on undecided voters.
SD were instituted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in '82 after the failed '72 McGovern & '80 Carter campaigns. Different reasons for SD have been put forth. No official reason has been given. It is implied that the DNC are more qualified to pick a winning candidate than voters.
The DNC thinks SD will help them win the election. Our aim is to elect a candidate that represents the majority, not to keep the DNC in power. We demand our constitutional right to elect democratic representatives through free and fair elections, and that begins with ending superdelegates.
