End Unfair Subsidies and Stop the Destruction of Foodstuffs

Each year, the United States Government purchases 10% of all grain foodstuffs in the united states and then destroys it to artificially raise prices.
There are people who cannot afford food and our government is purposefully raising the price of it, and for what?
They claim to be protecting farmers, but a vote on the program showed the majority of agriculture workers against government intervention; also, to my knowledge, they performed pretty well for the past 200 years without government meddling.
Is our nation not based on freedom, both political and economic? Why should our government be regulating and manipulating food prices, something that both Nazis and the French Revolutionary Government during their Reign of Terror committed?
I petition our government to end this.
