With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in late 1991, Fidel Castro's resignation as President of Cuba in 2008, and the United States government having improved their relations greatly with the Cuban government since the Cold War, I and many other Americans believe that it is time to end the Cuban embargo. The ending of the embargo would help both countries' economy very much, with the USITC citing a $1.2B loss annually due to the embargo, it would free travel to Cuba so people can see family there without restraints on currency and travel, and it will likely garner an increase in popularity from Cuban-Americans and favor a move to Cuban democracy faster. I may be a 15-year-old high school sophomore, but I believe in personal and economic freedoms just as much as most other Americans do.
