Since 2004, the US government has initiated unmanned drones to kill top leaders of terrorist organizations. While the estimates differ, anywhere from 138 to 2,000 civilians have been killed as a result of these attacks.
In some cases, American citizens have been killed while holding residence in Pakistan, which violates the due process clauses of the 5th and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution.
This is not a partisan issue. While the attacks have gained more attention under the current presidency, they also went on during a Republican-led one.
Members of any party could see the violations of human rights at play.
This an issue of basic human rights. If just one innocent citizen dies as a result of these attacks, we are creating terrorism where we seek to prevent it.
