End the blanket ban on psychiatric conditions in the Military, and replace it with a simple neuropsychological evaluation. If you require medication to function normally, or you cannot function in society without other significant aid, then you should be prohibited from joining. However, Department of Defense Directive 6130.3 prevents ANYONE with certain diagnoses from joining the Armed Forces. Instead of a blanket ban on service for these individuals, put everyone who wishes to join through a simple physical and psychological evaluation. This will end discrimination against those who could otherwise perform just fine in a military environment while still ensuring the efficacy of the Armed Forces. I encourage you to end these unnecessary blanket bans and instead decide based on the person.
