End unrealistic body images in the media and advertising by limiting the amount of retouching on the human body.

Created by R.B. on March 23, 2013

Every day, we open a magazine, watch a tv show or movie, or turn on the nightly news. Every day, we are exposed to hundreds of advertisements. Through the media and advertising, we are exposed to completely unrealistic body images, and then expected to look just like what we see. The female body type portrayed in the media is only naturally possessed by 5% of Americans. This applies to men, too, but women are 10x more likely to develop an eating disorder in an attempt to look like what we see.

24 million Americans suffer from eating disorders.
81% of ten years are afraid of being "fat."
69% of middle and high school girls say that magazines influence their idea of a perfect body shape.

We ask that companies be limited on how much retouching can be made to photos. We want realistic.
