Recent articles of the massive data grab by the NSA of phone records from Verizon (and I'm sure other carriers) is outright wrong and very scary. Hiding the orders in secret courts, not naming any specific parties of interest, and trying to defend such actions (without admitting it's happening) as necessary for the protection of our country is how a police state operates. Pair information like this up with the fact that we have the highest incarceration rate in the western world and it paints a grim picture for Freedom. Repeal the Patriot Act, stop granting yourselves sweeping powers to do what you want, and play by the rules that were meant to keep government power in check. You berate your citizens for thinking that they may need to protect themselves from government tyranny...
