The US is providing air support to Saudi Arabia's ill advised bombing campaign in Yemen. The Saudi led coalition has targeted hospitals and civilians in violation of international law, causing widespread devastation and further destabilizing the Middle East. Yemen's Houti rebels are Shiites with legitimate grievances under the present Sunni government, but they are not anti-American, or at least they were not before we entered the fight. Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy with a terrible human rights record, is in a deadly struggle with Iran right now for control of the Middle East. But we do not have an interest in this fight. Instead of taking sides, we ought solely to be neutral arbiters, encouraging both parties to come to the table to discuss peace. No more and no less.
