end the use of depleted uranium

Created by J.C. on September 24, 2011

Depleted uranium, or D.U., is used to tip the bullets and shells that we fire in Iraq and Afghanistan and leaves behind a radioactive dust after being used. Since we began creating this dust, malformations at birth and leukemia rates in children in southern Iraq have increased by 600%. D.U. takes over 4,500,000,000 years to break down. Thanks to us, some places in Iraq are no longer even inhabitable. They are completely devoid of life. Even our own soldiers are exposed to this cancerous substance day in and day out. It's like agent orange all over again. Only this time, our trail of death and destruction will be permanent. In the words of Howard Zinn, "No flag is large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.”
