end the use of the electoral college

This petition deals with the voting rights of Americans. This petition seeks an end to the use of the electoral college. The original circumstances which brought about the use of the electoral college no longer exist. The electoral college was formulated at a time when communication was difficult and unreliable. The majority of our citizens had little formal education or access to knowing much about the candidates. There is also the issue of the electoral college being used to solve the 3/5 compromise. Those circumstances have completely changed. We no longer need the electoral college. Each vote should count. It is an insult to American citizens that they do not.
