End the use of Polygraph Tests by the Federal Government

Polygraph tests are not a scientific means of determining an individual's truthfulness. Polygraph tests are routinely used as a means of interrogation by many Federal Agencies against their employees, agents, and applicants. Many careers have been ruined by "False Positives" from the polygraph machine. These false results often incorrectly show that a truthful person is lying. Many different factors can affect the readings of a polygraph machine that have nothing to do with the behavior or tendencies of the dishonest. Polygraph tests are merely an interrogation technique and they have no place in a free society where the criminal law is based on the concept of a person being "innocent until proven guilty" Polygraph tests should be banned on the Federal level.
