End the use of property taxes to fund public education and instead utilize state sales tax.

In states such as Ohio the quality of education is directly influenced by the amount of money tax payers living in that school district are willing/able to pay in property taxes. Teachers and students are forced to campaign for levy’s that if passed do little more than keep the schools running. This becomes an issue in communities with large populations of elderly who may not see a personal benefit from such taxes. It is also a serious issue in impoverished communities where more taxes could mean less food on the table, the degradation of the education in this case only serves to perpetuate poverty in these areas. It should be the goal of the government to ensure an equal education for all people, and as such there should be legislation to end prejudicial allocation of government funds.
