Many legislators in government seem to think their brand of religion should win out-right over the separation of church and state. For example, the far-reaching act(s) of the Texas Senate and comments made recently after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act a few short weeks ago. I could clearly see and hear the bias that was displayed by various elected officials.
Our founding fathers may have been of the Christian brand but they did not intend to enforce their beliefs on the public. If so, it was never stated in the constitution that Christianity would be the prefered religion of the newly formed government. We could have stayed with the King of England if that was indeed the purpose of our Declaration of Independence. Please sign this petition if you agree.
