End the VERY UNSUCCESSFUL war on drugs which imprisons minorities and reduces access to effective medical treatment.

Created by E.T. on January 03, 2013

Continuing 80 years of failed federal drug prohibition and wasting tens of billions on misdirected law enforcement is bad policy. We are imprisoning far too many citizens (especially minorities) for a victimless crime. This policy has resulted in the arrest of 13 million able bodied taxpayers since 1995 spawning a for profit corporate run prison system. Cannibas has dozens of medical applications that save lives. It helps reduce the stress of daily life. Industrial hemp is a great crop for renewable energy. It is less dangerous than alcohol but because it is illegal we are driving people to more dangerous alternatives like alcohol. By regulating cannibas and taxing it like alcohol we can effectively create new industries and new tax revenues that our contry needs so desparately
