End the War on Drugs

The purpose of this petition is to bring an end to the War on Drugs. There is no victory when the enemy is a plant or a chemical substance. There have to be other methods other than legislating, incarcerating, and fumigating our way to a better world. To end the War on Drugs we must repeal the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act, repeal the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs Treaty, repeal the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act, and repeal/revise the Pure Food and Drug Act. Officially declared in 1970 by President Richard Nixon the War on Drugs sought to reduce addiction and crime by targeting distributors, manufacturers, and growers, tackling the supply side but ignoring the demand side of the problem. Drugs are still easily obtainable. It's time to address our demand.
