We desperately need to establish "second chance" prison alternatives for non-violent drug offenders, reform drug policies & sentencing guidelines. Addiction and abuse needs to be treated medically, not criminally. There needs to be an "I wont do it again" forgiveness clause for first time traffickers and dealers, regardless of the felony zone.
The United States currently warehouses 25% of the worlds total prisoner population, while the country as a whole only accounts for roughly 5% of the total world population! An estimated 86% of all federal prison inmates were arrested over a non-violent victim-less crime!
An estimated 4 out of 10 murders, 6 out of 10 rapes and 9 out of 10 burglaries are left UNSOLVED! But for some strange reason the failed drug war continues. It's time to END IT.
