End the war on drugs

for far too long the draconian policies outlined by the likes of Richard Nixon have hampered our progress as a society both socially and scientifically. There needs to be a more nuanced and objective classification of substances. Especially when there is no empirical evidence to support the scheduling(i.e. psilocybin) it is obvious that the war on drugs was started not because of a concern for public health, but more so for social control and I personally find it egregious that in 2015 in the united states of america sovereign adults are treated like children
As Americans we all have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and imprisoning someone for what they choose to do with their own bodies is the most ludicrous violation of those written fundamental precepts.
