We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

End the War on Drugs

Created by I.B. on August 30, 2016

The war on drugs is an abysmal failure. Opioid overdose rates are increasing all over the United States. Prohibition is clearly an ineffective model for reducing social harm caused by drugs. Rather than treat addicts, the United States government has chosen to persecute them, and perpetuate a highly dangerous criminal drug market.

Furthermore, it is everyone's god-given, constitutional right to do with their body as they please, so long as it does not hinder the freedoms of anyone else. Current drug policy is woefully oppressive and if you love freedom, you will help change it.

By refusing to legalize and regulate drugs, the U.S. government has chosen to fund dangerous criminal organizations. It's time to stop living in the past, and come together in a more rational, compassionate future
