The federal war on drugs, while it may sound like a good and thoughtful thing has brought terrible regulations on certain 'gateway drugs', imposing taxes on tobacco (which is already too much regulation on a product which was formally not a problem/not taxed) and claiming that government needed to regulate and tax the drug if it wanted to be legal. Here's the thing, government should not regulate and tax a product which has not caused you harm. The only exception to not end it is to end the 'war' but to legalize all drugs that don't cause the mind to act violently (not alcohol, that's not a drug and its unconstitutional). Maybe, although the men who created the War on Drugs were well intentioned in the first place, didn't think it all the way through. But maybe now, is the right time.
