End the War on Drugs

Created by C.C. on November 30, 2016

The War on Drugs has been a forty-five year (and counting!) exposé on how not to fix the drug abuse problem in our country and the world over. The mass incarceration of drug users has aided in the overfilling of prisons and the inflation of the cost of the prison-industrial complex. Furthermore, there is no evidence to suggest that fewer individuals use drugs now than before the war was declared - in fact, much evidence shows the exact opposite. If we are going to fix the problem, we need to focus on rehabilitation for drug users and to stop treating addicts as criminals. By ending the war on drugs, we can focus on the real criminals - the producers and distributors - rather than overfilling prisons with the users who do not receive the support or rehabilitation they need in prison.
