In July, 2012 U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag initiated civil forfeiture procedures against Harborside Health Center, located in Oakland and San Jose, CA. Harborside is the country's largest medical cannabis dispensary and a good neighbor in the communities it serves. Harborside is a non-profit organization that believes strongly in the healing powers of cannabis as a real, safe and effective medicine.
In June, 2012 Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Federal government would, “limit our enforcement efforts to those individuals, organizations that are acting out of conformity with state law.” Harborside operates in strict compliance with all state and local laws and provides real healing to thousands of patients with no where else to go.
