End the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq

Created by L.V. on November 21, 2012

The war in Afghanistan is now longer than World War II, and the US has spent more than $1.4 trillion in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. 8,000 troops have died, 1,500 have had a limp amputated, and some 50,000 are wounded. An average deployment is 13 months, and the average soldier is deployed 3 times, which can cause up to a 15% increase in PTSD from a single deployment. In 1971-1980, three-quarters of those serving in Congress were veterans. Now, about 20% are, and it is far less likely for their sons or daughters to serve in the military than it is for low-income Americans, which has led to a desensitization in Congress. Please help petition Obama to end these wars now!
