Currently in America there is no valid, formal policy defining “workplace bullying” and therefore, a lack of legal protection for those who experience it. According to multiple studies, at any moment, in workplace settings around the nation, 15% of people are being affected by bullying.
•In 2011, it was reported that employees who are bullied within the U.S. are more likely to quit their jobs and remain unemployed due to the psychological injuries caused by bullying.
•Comparing the United States to European countries that have policies in place; the U.S. has allowed 26% more employees to experience workplace bullying.
Attention from the government would allow for widespread awareness of workplace bullying in employment settings throughout the country.
