Hunger afflicts 805 million people worldwide and is a grave threat to peace. We can end hunger overseas and here at home. All we need is the will.
The United States can lead the world in eradicating hunger through our Food for Peace and Feed the Future programs. We need more support from the government for these initiatives. It's especially crucial with hunger in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere.
The McGovern-Dole School Lunch program is also vital for ending child hunger and malnutrition.
At home we must support our emergency food banks in the Feeding America network. A strong nutrition bill this year can help end child hunger.
There is enough food on the planet for everyone. We can lead the way in saving lives and ensuring food and nutrition for everyone. Let's end world hunger!
