The majority of Americans know that the world is warming at unprecedented rates. We are waiting for our government to take action.
A proposed carbon tax would raise $125 billion in revenue, more than the home mortgage interest deduction. Not only would the correct incentives be instantly placed on all manufacturers and consumers, but it could be done in a way that creates further economic growth.
All parties can support a measure that directs all revenues towards corporate and personal tax cuts. No new revenue would be created, and global warming would be limited to the damage already done.
Economists of both parties have endorsed a carbon tax for decades, and now is the time to push for action.
