Endorse the Use of Electoral Fusion

Created by P.W. on November 13, 2014

While we recognize that election laws are handled on a state-by-state basis, we call on President Obama to endorse the use of electoral fusion. As currently practiced in states such as New York, smaller political parties are able to either cross-endorse candidates they favor or run their own when they feel this is the best course of action.

Electoral fusion helps minimize the notion that votes are "wasted" on third-party candidates. Major candidates often count on votes from smaller parties and cater their platforms to earn their endorsement. Smaller parties benefit from having their voice heard, and can withhold support if they are ignored. With the Administration's support, we hope to see fusion expanded throughout the United States.
