Animals are living breathing creatures just like us and they should have most of the same rights we have when it comes to abuse. Tapping your pet when it is misbehaving to teach it is perfectly acceptable to a degree, but when you intentionally try and harm an animal, you should face serious consequences and penalties. Humans face serious charges when assaulting and kidnapping other humans. Give animals the same rights.
