18 USC § 922 clearly lays out who may own or possess a firearm in this country. We implore the administration to strictly enforce the existing laws, and to examine the effect of this enforcement before entering the fight for more laws. The justice department has done an abysmal job of enforcement of this section of code. There are untold numbers of violations of this code found by state and local law enforcement on a daily basis. If the administration would task the justice department with the specific enforcement of this section any gun crime in this country would be a federal matter. This would make the added deterrent of dealing with the federal justice system a reality for thousands of violent criminals.
