At the time of writing this petition, a great many discussions are happening about gun reform after the mass shooting in Connecticut. Some people desire no change, citing it infringes on their constitutional rights. Some desire a great deal of change, citing that we need less guns and more safety.
There is a middle ground, and one many states as a whole have failed us in achieving. Gun purchases require background checks and in many cases, checks of the buyers mental health and stability.
These checks and laws are poorly enforced all over our nation. Please enforce our current firearm laws to their maximum efficiency, and deny all high violent risk individuals access to firearms.
It's probably not going to stop the shootings, people can always get guns. But it will save a few lives.
