As a member of my school's Amnesty International club, I believe that knowledge of the offences toward prisoners of conscience should be addressed in schools. Throughout the world, human rights activists like Aung San Suu Kyi, a Burmese opposition politician in Myanmar(Burma), are put into prisons simply for speaking out against the government. Suu Kyi herself was put under house arrest for nearly 15 years between 1989 and 2010.
I believe that schools be aware of this kind of treatment being put into action in other countries, as well as encouraged to send letters via Amnesty International to free prisoners of conscience from the clutches of the unjust governments around the world. And if not send letters, to at least allow the knowledge of such acts become prominent in school.
