Enforce the Environmental Protection of Sea Turtles

For the past 9 years Sea Turtle Oversight Protection (S.T.O.P) has documented violations of the Endangered Species Act. Not only have their been violations in Federal Policies but there have also been documented violations of local policies. Enforcement continues to fail in its duty to protect. Under the Marine Turtle Lighting Ordinance, it states that no light should be visible from the beach during sea turtle nesting season.
Through an intricate mapping system, data collecting app and 144 FWCC Permitted volunteers, S.T.O.P has rescued 140,000 sea turtle hatchlings. These hatchlings disorient to the urban lights and are species listed from critical endangered or threaten. Light disorientation is a man made problem that has had great ramifications on the survivorship of the sea turtles.
