Though our country is named the "United" States, we are hardly united. Men and women; gay and straight; White, Black, Latino, and Asian. These are just descriptive words, adjectives, however; those in the media and those with pull would prefer to keep us dichotomized.
Through hatespeech and bullying, the media and even those in public office (and often in the name of God) have managed not so much to keep us apart, but more so to keep us from coming together in support of our brothers and sisters. No more. We will take no more of this. We will stand together and continue to gather names with this petition until all the citizens of this country are treated with the same respect and that also means equal pay and equal rights.
